Overview

People can join a connected Slack support channel without becoming members of your Interchange account. Channel presence is an observed provider identity, not authorization to view account data or make changes. Slack is the first supported participant roster; other messaging providers will use the same access model when their roster integrations become available. Account admins can review the participant roster in Communications. Until an admin makes a decision, an unrecognized or foreign-account participant does not receive account-specific Murph answers. General product and public storefront questions can still be answered. Keeping someone as a channel guest or identifying an external company does not grant account access.

Review a new participant

When a new identity is observed, the roster shows the person’s provider name, email when the provider supplies one, and the connected channel. An account admin chooses one of four outcomes:
  • Add to account sends the existing Team invitation with the selected Basic, Premium, or Admin role. The participant receives account access only through that invitation and the normal membership checks.
  • Keep as channel guest allows the person to remain in the provider channel without granting Interchange account membership.
  • Mark as external company records the participant as a known counterparty. A non-empty company name is required for this decision.
  • Disconnect channel removes the account-owned channel binding and stops using its participant records. It does not remove anyone who already has a separate account membership.
A consultant who already has access to your account remains valid even if they also work with another Interchange customer. Parent and child accounts in the same organization are treated as one account boundary.

Shared channels

For a declared shared channel, members of the named counterparty organizations are expected participants. Anyone mapped only to another organization still requires review. Marking a known external counterparty keeps account data and changes unavailable to that participant; it does not turn the provider roster into an account access list.

Removal and audit history

Provider removals and channel disconnections remove the participant records from active use but do not silently change account memberships. Admin decisions are audited with the actor, provider, installation, channel, participant identity, decision, and resulting posture.
