# Account Access & Signup

> How signing up creates or joins an organization, who becomes an admin, and what to do if you're asked to request access.

# Account Access & Signup

When you sign up for Interchange, what happens depends on whether an
**organization** already exists for your email domain. This page explains the
three cases, who becomes an **admin**, and what to do if you land on the
**Request Access** screen.

## How signup resolves your organization

Your organization is matched by your **email domain** (for example, everyone at
`@mediamark.co.za` belongs to the same organization).

### 1. New domain → you create the organization

If no organization exists for your domain yet, signing up **creates** it and
makes you its first **admin**. Admins can invite teammates, connect ad servers,
and manage settings.

### 2. Pre-provisioned organization → the intended admin is invited

When Scope3 sets up an organization for you ahead of time (for example, a
managed seller onboarding), the person who runs the setup provides the
**intended admin's email**. That person receives an invitation and, on signup,
signs in **directly as an admin** — no request needed.

If you were told your organization was set up but you don't have an invitation,
ask whoever ran the setup to add your email, or contact Scope3 support.

### 3. Domain already has an organization → you join as a member

If your domain already belongs to an established organization (one that already
has an admin), signing up means **joining** that organization. When the
organization's registered primary domain is verified, matching-domain access
requests are approved automatically as ordinary member access by default when
that domain identifies one organization.

An organization admin can disable primary-domain auto-join. If auto-join is
disabled, or if the domain is not verified, you'll be routed to **Request
Access** for manual approval. Manual approval also applies when several
organizations share a domain and no organization has explicitly enabled
auto-join. Child accounts remain separately controlled: joining the
organization does not grant access to every account beneath it.

## The "Request Access" screen

If you reach **Request Access**, submitting it notifies your organization's
admins, who can approve you into the organization. A verified primary-domain
request may instead be approved immediately when auto-join is enabled.

* **Fastest path:** ask an admin on your team to send you an invitation
  directly — an invitation supersedes a pending request and lets you sign in
  with the role they choose.
* **No admin yet?** If your organization was pre-provisioned but has no admin
  to approve requests, contact Scope3 support so the intended admin can be
  invited.

Organization admins manage active members, admins, pending invitations, and
pending access requests together under **Organization settings → Members**.
Account-specific access remains visible and editable on each member's row.

## Roles

| Role       | Can do                                                                      |

Admin is granted when you **create** an organization, **claim** an unowned
pre-provisioned organization, or accept an **admin invitation**. Joining an
existing organization through an automatically or manually approved access
request grants ordinary membership; ask an admin to elevate you if you need
admin rights.
